About Me
Hello everyone, my name's Nana Ama Asamoah-Adjei and I'm very glad to have this opportunity!
I know my name's a mouthful so let's try that again more slowly: Na-na A-ma A-sa-mo-ah - A-jay.
Excellent job!
In the future though, feel free to call me Nana.
I'm a senior at the Tandon School of Engineering studying Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and super enthusiastic about meeting new people and fostering community building.
I went into college not knowing what I wanted to study. All I knew was that I was no longer interested in studying Medicine (it had been a childhood dream or maybe a family dream) and that engineering was the next best option.
You got into NYU, yet you didn't know what you wanted to study, Nana?
Yep :)!
I remember so vividly the evening my dad read out the different engineering majors offered at Tandon. They all sounded interesting, but I was drawn to ECE because it sounded the most challenging and mentally stimulating, and that's how I got here.
Moral of the story: I love a good challenge!
Three years down the line, I am faced with yet another fascinating challenge: how to use my engineering degree to pursue my newfound passions in urban design, sanitation and agriculture. My dream is to be able to re-design/improve the built environment and quality of life of my home country Ghana (and now NYC)!
