Brainstorming
At first, my group mates and I thought of multiple portable gear to build for our tales of visionaries project, such as emotion-status-telling ring or player-sensing Frisbee, but they are all listed as plan B because we genuinely want to put the concept of interactive artwork into practice while maintaining the uniqueness of the idea.
We got insight by the hot weather outside at last. Realizing that in a hundred years, global warming will be an increasingly severe and unstoppable trend, so we think of building by-street ACs and electric fans. But how can we foster offline social connections with that?
To make up for that, we designed that starting the cooling system needs to be group-challenge required. Only when they complete certain offline communication collaborative task can they turn on the fan. First we took reference from the KTV machine in the malls and tried to make a karaoke machine. To be more user-friendly, I pointed out that not everybody is fond of singing, so we added posing game as the second method to activate the cooling system.
The whole designing pattern is inspired by the swing interactive artwork in Paris. By encouraging people go play with the swings and create sync among complete stranger players, this is a natural yet heartwarming design for offline connection strengthening.
