Fabrication and Production
We started off by the circuits, which was a handy one. Given the ambitious fact that we want to build three interaction routes, the circuit design was the most complex one we've encountered throughout the semester. We souk help from our kind support desk, and we gained a clear vision of the circuit design along with some inspiration about the codes. Then we started coding for the functions, which was no longer simply pasting existing example codes in hopes of blending in new codes from the internet. At last we designed the appearance of our Childish Radish, referring to an animation character from MoErZhuangYuan, a Chinese video game. The fabrication texture of Childish Radish in the end turned out to be smooth on the surface yet fluffily soft.
During the user test, a shared friend of me and Xuer, Azalea, was invited as the user. She thinks the project is very creative and appealing in a cute way. Our instructor pointed out that everything is of high completeness except that the pressure-sensitive sensor should be attached to the toy in a more natural way(to hide the wires). We gladly took that opinion and did aesthetic improvements based on that.
I contributed to the project in every single step. I was in charge of coding for Route no.1 and 3, circuit soildering, LED installing and testing, wool cotton frame building and so on. I gained abundant experience during this project and I feel more qualified of constructing art pieces like this.
