ArtsPraxis Volume 1, Issue 1
ISSN: 1552-5236
The first issue of ArtsPraxis reflects on and responds to the issues raised during The NYU Forum on Assessment in Arts Education (2003), which brought together over 130 participants committed to discourse among arts educators. Evaluations of the Forum indicated that this event was a significant one for strengthening the arts in challenging and uncertain times. ArtsPraxis enables that discourse to continue.
The first issue of the journal publishes the leading articles from the NYU Forum which invited the global community to propose workshops, papers, posters, narratives, and performances on assessment in arts education.
Contributions for ArtsPraxis were limited to participants in the Forum. We encouraged Forum submissions from interdisciplinary artists, educators, and scholars engaged in work associated with the Forum topics. Our goals were to motivate a dialogue among a wide variety of practitioners and researchers that will enrich the development of arts education in the coming years.
