What is studio40?
studio40 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library is a recording studio and creative space outfitted with state-of-the-art media equipment and software for public access. Check out our no-cost resources, classes, workshops, and events.
What can I do at studio40?
studio40 offers a space for you to realize your own unique and creative projects – completely free of charge. At studio40 you can:
Record music using library-provided instruments or your own.
Use industry-standard post-production software to edit audio.
Record a podcast.
Use Adobe CS to edit dynamic photo & video content.
Use professional photography & lighting equipment to run a photoshoot.
Use a green-screen to make videos with dynamic backgrounds.
And much more!
In addition to access to industry-standard audiovisual equipment and software, we also offer educational workshops and classes to equip you with the technical skills you need to realize your creative potential.
How Does studio40 Work?
1 - Attend Our Orientations:
Sign up for our 2-part Orientation & Access Track to get up to speed on what studio40 is and how to gain access.
2 - Complete the Assessment:
Pass a hands-on assessment to show that you're ready to handle studio equipment and gain access to studio40 via a brand-new Studio card.
3 - Book Your Session:
Use your Studio card to book time to record your project under the supervision of studio40 staff. For more information about reservations, visit our FAQ.
Programs
While we recommend that students take the classes in order, there are no attendance requirements, and students are welcome to repeat or skip classes as they choose.
