What is Routine Argument Writing and Why Does It Matter?

These resources present an overview of routine argument writing and its role in creating and maintaining a classroom culture for making academic arguments.

"Routine Arguments provide an entry-point and help create a culture of academic argument in the classroom. Students and teachers begin to explore arguments that surround them on a daily basis and they're introduced to argument through questions like: What's the best toothpaste to use? Or What's the best time of day for school to start? I really like our use of the word 'culture' in regard to argument writing. I use a daily argument approach with my 10th and 12th grade students from the beginning of the year. The C3WP materials and resources have really helped me establish a culture of argument from the beginning."
