Team Line-Up Varsity Letter
Challenges are a privilege, not a right!
Determining the weekly starting line-up for Varsity and JV will be based on the following criteria
Wrestle Offs
Coach's discretion
Practice attendance
Work ethic in practice
Attitude/ Citizenship
Within safe weight limits
Preseason/ Off-season results.
If an athlete is late to a tournament or match, they will not be allowed to wrestle. If they are the starting weight for Varsity or Jv, their position will be given to someone else for the dual.
Varsity Letter
In order to receive a letter, a Varsity athlete must win 8 matches or 4 divisional matches throughout the season.
Coaches Discretion
Un-sportsmen like conduct will not be tolerated.
Grades:
Grades are something we consider more important than wrestling; they are Student- athletes. If a student has 2 F's or a GPA below 2.0, they will not wrestle for 3 weeks. This is not negotiable.
We also do grade checks every Friday. It is on the athlete to stop by and see Coach Ackermann in her classroom for the grade checks. If an athlete is in danger, there will be steps taken to get them back on track.
Practice Attendance
Every wrestler is expected to show up to every practice
If a wrestler is to miss a practice, please let Coach Brian or Coach Ackermann know. Documentation will be made. To let a coach know, here's what you do:
Open the Remind App and put Brian Goodman and Aleija Ackermann in a group chat. Type out your message letting us know the reason you will not be in attendance and when you plan to come back in.
Or Email both Coaches in the same Email
If a wrestler is not in attendance of a practice and does not let a coach know, they will not be allowed to wrestle that weekend. A strike will also be added to their folder.
If a wrestler misses 75% or more of the practices of the week, they will not be wrestling that weekend.
