Attire & Gear

Gear/ Uniform

All athletes will be required to buy/order their own gear. We will be ordering through Game One. More information to follow. Please refer to the 'Attire Section' below in regards to what can be worn to practice.

It is required for the athlete to wear the appropriate team gear to every dual or tournament. No pajama pants or non team gear will be allowed. We are a team and will look like one.

Does my wrestler need a cup?

No you do not need a cup. Though wrestling is a very physical sport a cup is not required or recommended. A wrestling singlet has no way to hold one in place. Though injuries to the groin occasionally occur in wrestling they occur rarely when the sport is practiced safely.

Jewelry - Piercings?

During wrestling practice and competitions all jewelry and piercings must be removed for safety purposes. Please understand this is not negotiable.

Mouth Piece/Guard

A mouthpiece is required for those that wear braces. It has to be worn for matches. If they have just top braces, they only need the top piece. If they have top and bottom, they need both the top and bottom pieces.

Singlets

  • They're not as bad as everyone thinks they are!

  • Singlets are only worn during weigh-ins and tournaments or matches. For Weigh-Ins, there is a .5 allowance with the singlet on.

  • We will hand out singlets to the athletes. They will sign out each singlet they get, and at the end of season sign them back out. If the singlet is not returned, we will charge $100 for each singlet signed out. If the singlet is returned in terrible condition (I.e. purposely ripping it, not washing it, bleach stains, etc.) we will charge $70 for each singlet. Treat the singlets with respect.

  • Varsity and Jv singlets are different colors and style.

  • Girls must wear a tight, high sports bra when wearing the singlets. If the uniform does not give enough coverage of the chest, a Dri-Fit shirt must be worn underneath.

  • It is required for females to wear Nike Pros (or something similar) or Biker shorts underneath the singlet.

Hygiene

  • Our wrestling room is the cleanest room on campus. In order to upkeep that, we require the wrestlers to constantly help clean the mats and room.

  • The mats are mopped and sanitized daily. Throughout the year, all the mats are removed from the room and we clean underneath those as well.

  • Wrestlers have 45 minutes after practice to shower and kill the bacteria on themselves. If they are unable to shower in that time because they are at a tournament, they will have to use wipes for their body

  • It is required for every athlete to have a bag of wipes and to purchase an antibacterial soap. Bath and Body works soap is not a soap that will get the germs off.

  • Ringworm is a very common infection. It spreads like a wildfire so we ask our athletes to constantly check their bodies every day. They must do a thorough look at their body everyday. If there is something odd, such as an itchy pimple or a circle/ring forming, let a coach check it out IMMEDIATELY. Even if it is nothing serious, we would rather be safe than sorry.

  • Wrestling shoes should not be worn anywhere but the wrestling room. Everything on the bottom of the shoes are tracked into the room and put on the mats.

  • It is expected for everyone to come to practice clean, with deodorant on, and clean, washed clothes.
