Student Council

By Alexis Yee

There are many activities here at Greenspun, and there is always one club that is mostly responsible for them: Student Council. Who planned the 80s dance: Student Council. The Winter Assembly: Student Council, and who sold roses for Valentines Day: Student Council. Without them, well none of these activities, and many more wouldn't exist in the dolphin universe.

What Members Like About Student Council

They’re many things Student Council. There has got to be a thing members like. Lily Larkin, 7th grade says “I love student council because of the fun memories, the relationship between the staff, the many friends you can make, and all of the things you can do in StuCo. The thing I love most is our teacher, Mrs. Niewinski. She gives you all of her love and helps you with anything you need.

 Running Student Council

For Student Council to be a thing there has to be a teacher running it. Some teachers can be StuCO advisor for quite a long time, however some teachers aren’t StuCo advisor for a long time and it’s mostly because of some personal business. The current StuCO advisor, Mrs. Niewinski says that she has been working as StuCO advisor for 2 years.

Would You Take StuCO in High School?

In high school most kids would take that elective/club they are doing right now, however some kid don’t. What do the StuCo members have to say about this?

Karleigh Beranek, 8th grade said “she will take high school because they plan bigger things.” Lily Larkin, 7th grade said “I think I will do student council in high school, because it gives good relationships with your school, staff, and kids you don’t see every day.” Ryssa Mason, 6th grade says “No, because I’m very busy.”

Advice About Joining Student Council

When it comes to trying new things, people might not think that they should do it, however Student Council thinks the opposite! “Have fun!” -Ryssa Mason, 6th grade. “Have lots of fun and make tons of friends!”  -Mrs. Niewinski. “Don’t be afraid to talk to people and take the lead. No one takes the lead by staying in the shadows.” -Karleigh Beranek, 8th grade. “If you are thinking about joining student council, you should just go right ahead and not second guess. Student council gives you so many different relationships that you can have with your staff and peers and also gives you fun projects to do every month. You have no idea what Student Council can do to you. It changed me as a person, and as a student in so many different ways. Please join student council. I think you would love it.” -Lily Larkin, 7th grade.

Student Council has been around with us from the beginning, and has been, currently, and will remain one of the most significant clubs here at GJHS.
