At East Tech, we offer a variety of CTE-Career Technical Education Programs through the Magnet Program.
Do you like to work with your hands? Do you like to build things? Do you want to go into the construction, architecture, or engineering fields? Ladies, this goes for you too. More women are needed in the construction industry. The program prepares students, both through academics by learning standard industry processes and practical application by hands-on projects. Areas of study include safety, blueprint reading, carpentry and rough framing, exterior finishing applications, scaffolding, electrical, plumbing, concrete, and masonry. In addition, students will learn building codes and regulations and will utilize CADD software tools. Industry-standard curriculum provided by Carpenter's Union and the Southern Nevada Builders Association. Students will earn OSHA 10 Safety Certification, Forklift Certification, and ICC Certifications. The student organization related to this program is SkillsUSA.

Do you like to cook? Do you like to bake? Do you want to run your own restaurant, catering service, bakery? Be a Chef? Be a dietician? Students in the Culinary Arts program will learn food safety, essential cooking techniques, nutrition, quality assurance, food cost projecting, inventory, catering and banquet services, menu planning, customer service, and marketing. You will learn about the current trends in the foodservice industry and regional and international cuisines. We are one of the two high schools in the state of Nevada and the only one in Southern Nevada, who is accredited by the American Culinary Federation. Students earn 11 ACF Certifications in addition to Serv Safe certification. We proudly announce that three East Tech alumni are ACF Certified Fundamental Cooks. Do like working with children, especially toddler-aged? In our Early Childhood program, students will learn about child development, child care, and teaching and learning. Students will have hands-on opportunities to teach lessons which incorporate art, music, and drama to make learning fun in our on-site preschool laboratory. Students earn Dual Credits through Nevada State College. The student organization related to this program is FCCLA.
Are you interested in computers? Building, repairing, or networking computers? How about programming? In our Information Technology program, students will learn safety procedures, network systems hardware, network protocols, and constructing and maintaining a network. Students will utilize CiscoTM curriculum. In addition, students will be introduced to the elements and structure of computer game development as well as programming and creating games. Are you interested in learning about promoting and advertising products and/or entertainment events? Does watching Shark Tank interest you? Do you have an idea for the next best product? If you want to start your own business, how will you reach your target market? How will you advertise your business? Or are you interested more in travel and tourism? Are you interested in destination experiences and hospitality which include hotel operations, food and beverage, attractions, entertainment, guest services, and recreational/leisure activities? Our Marketing and Hospitality program is unique because students are participating in two CTE programs within their Magnet program. Click on both programs on your left to see each program of study. Students will have hands-on experience in marketing and planning events such as fashion shows, concerts, conventions, sporting events, and other entertainment activities. Students in our program plan and promote school and community events. In addition, students will participate in "Shark Tank" product promotion presentations, product/service branding, and trade-show convention experiences. Students will learn about the four P's of marketing: product, price, place, and promotion. The student organization related to this program is DECA.
Do you like working on cars? Do want to learn more about cars? Students in the Mechanical Technology program will not only learn about basic vehicle diagnostics and repair but will learn about the operation and maintenance of various mechanical, electrical, and fluid power systems. Students also learn safety, tools usage, power systems, energy principles, welding and instrumentation through a hands-on approach. Ladies, this is another industry where females are needed. Students in our Sports Medicine program learn medical terminology, applied anatomy and physiology, athletic training, physical fitness, injury evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation and patient care principles. This pathway will encourage students to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities leading to careers in the medical field. The student organization related to this program is HOSA.
Medical Professions encompasses curriculum and training in Medical Assisting and Pharmacy Tech.

Students in the Medical Assisting program will be provided with the knowledge and skills required for entry into administrative and clinical medical assisting. Areas of study include diversity, awareness, pharmacology, health information management, and laboratory procedures. Have you thought about a career in pharmacology. The Pharmacy Practice program provides students with an introduction to practices and fundamentals of pharmacology. Areas of study include pharmacy, calculations, routes, inventory management, and factors affecting drug activity. Have you ever thought of becoming a teacher or working in the Education field? Maybe you want to work with Special Education students, become a School Counselor, School Psychologist, or Coach? Perhaps you want to become a teacher in your favorite subject like Physical Education, math or history, etc. Maybe you desire to make a difference. Do you have a teacher who positively influenced you and now you wish to influence and nurture a desire to learn in others? Or you wish to learn ways to make learning fun? Well, if any of these describe your motivation then start here! Students in the Teaching and Training program are prepared to become future elementary or secondary teachers. Students learn about human development, planning and implementing developmentally-appropriate activities, basic health and safety practices and legal requirements for teaching learners. In addition, students have a great opportunity to learn and earn! Students will take Nevada State College Dual credit courses in Education and have the opportunity to earn three or more college credits. Senior Teaching and Training students will participate in an internship where he/she will work with a cooperating mentor teacher at a local elementary or middle school. Through the internship students will learn the day-to-day responsibilities of teachers, provide instruction, and develop and utilize lesson plans.
