Audition Information

STEP 1:  Audition Requirements 

Students, please perform the following requirements at your live audition 

MAJOR SCALE

• Sopranos and Tenors will perform an F Major Scale ascending and descending, on Solfege (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Ti-Do, etc...) or neutral syllable 

• Altos and Basses will perform a D Major Scale ascending and descending, on Solfege (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Ti-Do, etc...) or neutral syllable 

• If you are not sure what voice part to sing, perform the scale that feels the most comfortable to you.

SOLO SONG

• Students will sing a one-minute cut of a piece of their choosing (Art Song, Folk Song, Aria, Disney, Musical Theater - no a cappella, no pop music, R&B, rap, or top 40 music.). Be sure to ask your current choir teacher or music teacher for some guidance. Students must provide a backing track. 

SIGHT READING

• Rhythmic/Melodic sight-reading: Please click on BOTH (Rhythmic & Melodic)

• Rhythmic: Clap the rhythm example to the best of your ability. You may speak on numbers, familiar syllables, or simply clap the rhythm - Click Here: Rhythmic Sight Reading

• Melodic: Sing melodic exercise on solfege, neutral syllable, or numbers. Sing higher if the melodic line goes up, and sing lower if it goes down - Click Here: Melodic Sight Reading
