Advanced Orchestra
Advanced Orchestra
Period 1 - An audition/placement only ensemble that will be required to perform at all CHS concerts. Students who successfully complete this course may be eligible for Chamber Orchestra based on their audition, but not guaranteed. An optional trip will be scheduled for students who want to experience music in other states and bond with fellow musicians. Festival opportunities will be scheduled as CCSD or Nevada ASTA accept registrations.

Course Fee Payment of $50 + Coaching Fee $25 = $75
Concert Attire
Men - All Black - Black long sleeve button up shirt, black dress pants, black socks and dress shoes. A black necktie is preferred.
Women - Melissa Dress from Cousins Attire
Chamber Orchestra

Period 3 - An audition only ensemble that requires multiple concerts, recruitment, awareness, and fundraising events. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to study private lessons as they are expected to audition for CCSD Honor Orchestra/NMEA All State. Chamber Orchestra has a travel requirement to maximize their musical perspective. Performance at CCSD High School Orchestra festival is mandatory.

Intermediate Orchestra
Intermediate Orchestra
Periods 4 - Students who have not auditioned or placed by Mr. Thomas are enrolled in Intermediate Orchestra. These students will focus on building a foundational knowledge of music reading and instrument pedagogy that correlates with High School standards. These students will be offered a minimum of 3 concerts per school year. An optional trip will be scheduled for students who want to experience music in other states and bond with fellow musicians. Festival opportunities will be scheduled as CCSD or Nevada ASTA accept registrations.

Concert Attire
Orchestra T-Shirt (provided with course fee) with with black dress pants, black socks and dress shoes. Black skirts and flats also accepted.
Sinfonia
Sinfonia
Period 5 -This one-year course is designed for students who have successfully completed a High School intermediate orchestra course and/or demonstrated the required skills by audition. Areas of emphasis include advanced concepts in music reading, specific performance techniques of the instrument being studied, tone production, and intonation. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills either one of the elective credits or the Arts/Humanities credit required for high school graduation and may be repeated.
