Crisis Committees are a relatively new addition to the US-Canada MUN circuits. Crisis Committees can be best thought of as a sped up simulation of a small committee or cabinet (ex: Security Council or a President's Cabinet) where delegates actions have realtime impacts. In these committees, the goal is not to pass a resolution, rather, it is to solve problems as they develop and address the consequences poorly thought out solutions have created. However, just like a General Assembly, the delegates must still act in the interest of whomever they represent. In addition to making speeches, delegates also engage in the committee by writing directives.
Crisis Committees are considerably more fast paced than other types of committees and require the delegate to be fully present at all times. Oftentimes the chairs may modify parliamentary procedure to match the type of committee, especially since most Crisis Committees will not host more than 15 delegations, thus rendering parliamentary procedure obsolete.
