In 8th grade, students will learn the principles of CAD (computer-aided design) as you plan and design a Model home using Punch! Home & Landscape Design architectural software.  Students will develop an understanding of scale, layout, appropriate finishes, fixtures, appliances, HVAC systems, working within a budget, and meeting specifications. Students must learn to adapt and work through problems quickly while facing a deadline and the ever changing wants and needs from a demanding client! 

Students will explore the principles of engineering and design by learning the basics of Google SketchUp in a 3D modeling unit, which they get to design and 3D print a project of their choice!
This unit is designed to help students to better develop an understanding of geometry and orthographic projection to strengthen math skills and general understanding of 3-dimensional views while also requiring critical thinking and problem solving skills.
