In 7th grade, students dive into the world of digital media and communication through animation, exploring both digital and stop-motion (Claymation) techniques using a program called Frames. Throughout the unit, they will strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills by planning and developing animated stories using scripts and storyboards. In addition, students will learn to make thoughtful design choices, including the use of color, text/fonts, music and sound effects, as well as ensuring clarity, smooth flow, and effective movement in their animations. 

Students will explore engineering and design principles through a 3D modeling unit using Google SketchUp, where they'll have the opportunity to design and 3D print a project of their choice. This unit helps students deepen their understanding of geometry and orthographic projection, strengthening their math skills and spatial awareness. Throughout the project, students will also apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they bring their 3D designs to life.
