This Advanced Placement course covers the topics that are taught in AP Calculus AB in addition to more topics which include integration by parts, Taylor series, parametric equations, vector calculus, and polar coordinate functions. It also runs as an ECE course in alignment to UConn’s course design and expectations, so students have the opportunity to earn an AP credit or ECE credit. Students taking this course should have a strong background in linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, inverse trigonometric, and piece-wise defined functions, as well as sequences, series and polar equations. Students that successfully complete this course leave equipped to pursue Multivariable Calculus, in addition to other advanced mathematics coursework Students that successfully take AP Calculus AB should not enroll in this course and should explore other course options or an independent study. Upon successful completion of this course students may receive 8 college credits for UConn’s Fall MATH 1131Q / Spring MATH 1132Q course.
