The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the EMT student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the prehospital setting and providing patient transportation. Includes a 10-hour observation experience outside of classroom instruction. Meets the performance requirements of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam. This course is conducted in conjunction with the University of Connecticut’s full year AH 4092 course which grants 4 college credits to a student who successfully completes the program.
Please note: There is a fee associated with earning college credit for this course as well as if students chose to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Exam.
