Students enrolled in this course should have an interest in mental health awareness. Through this course, students will participate in a unique and consistent experience that would facilitate deeper exploration and learning about various mental health topics along with group discussion and personal reflection to enhance student self-awareness, awareness of others, and create healthy, life-long coping strategies. Topics may include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, perfectionism, over-achieving, stress and time management, suicide prevention, substance use prevention, boundary setting, and self advocacy. Students and counselor will monitor progress through surveys, self & group reflection, personal growth, and a culmination service project with the middle schools where high school students can share their learning around mental health.
