Grading

NMS BAND GRADING POLICY 

Grades will be calculated using the following scale: 

15% ­ Classwork & Effort

• 3 points per class based upon:

  • Participation in and proper etiquette during Rehearsals

  • Having all required materials:

    • Instrument, Music, Pencil

• Written work

• Weekly Recordings through Google Classroom

• Music and Pencil Checks

40% - Minor Playing Checks & Quizzes

• Smaller playing checks

• Vocab, note ID, music theory quizzes

45% - Performance Attendance & Major Playing Checks

• Longer playing checks assigned and performed in class.

• Attendance at all scheduled Dress Rehearsals and Concerts is expected.

• Not attending the performance will result in a grade of 0, unless excused prior to the event. 

  • Excused students are expected to schedule a make-up assignment with Mr. Goguen.
