Schoology class site is current with work timeline (e.g. set-up, materials needed, progress that needs to be made each day), project rubric, and resources.
Leave adequate time for clean up (includes putting away all materials and wiping down tables).
Student digital portfolios need to be updated as projects are completed.
It is recommended that all visual art classroom consumable materials be inventoried. This crucial process ensures efficient resource management and helps maintain a well-equipped learning environment. To streamline this process effectively, it is recommended to follow a set of guidelines, with inventory checks occurring both at the beginning and end of each school year.
Inventory Routine: Establish a schedule for assessing visual art materials, media and equipment. It is advisable to perform inventory in the fall when new orders are delivered and midyear to determine anticipated art classroom needs for the upcoming school year.
Review, Maintenance, Analysis, and Reordering: During inventory, assess the condition of materials. Dispose of expired or damaged items and prioritize reordering essential materials to ensure a well-stocked and functional art classroom. A brief analysis of inventory data is suggested to identify trends in material consumption, potential areas for cost-saving, or the need for adjustments in curriculum planning. This analysis helps in making informed decisions regarding future material orders.
Organized Storage: Ensure that all materials are organized and stored in designated classrooms or dedicated storage areas—store materials in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet requirements.
Hazardous Materials: School staff should maintain and refer to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as they may be provided by a vendor as a starting point for notice on a product’s hazards and the precautions required for its safe use.
Labeling System: Cabinets should be labeled, indicating the contents of each item for both inventory and organization. This makes it easier to track and identify materials for inventorying and use.
Communication: School administrators, budget planners, and art department colleagues may find the information from the inventory process helpful for future planning.
