Hello,
My name is Beth Poremba and I'm in the 11th school year of serving as the School Psychologist for Norwayne Local Schools. I am thankful to work in a district that has such an extremely supportive community. I have really enjoyed getting to know and work with the staff, students, and parents here.
School Psychologists are typically included on a team that help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
School Psychologists work with students, their families, teachers, administrators, and community providers to:
Assess barriers to learning for students and help determine the best instructional strategies to improve learning
Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health
Promote student wellness and resilience
Enhance students’ understanding and acceptance of diverse cultures and backgrounds
Evaluate eligibility for Special Education support and services with a team
Encourage home and school collaboration
Make referrals and help coordinate community support services
Assist in the design and implementation of academic and behavioral interventions
Assist in the design and implementation of student progress monitoring systems
Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students
Respond to crises by providing direct services and coordination with community services
I look forward to continuing as a member of Norwayne's support team. Please feel free to contact me at my office location at Norwayne Elementary.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Beth Poremba
