The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) provides for a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for all individuals with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21. In order to be responsive to the diverse educational needs of all our students, the Student Services department of Norwayne Local Schools offers a full continuum of programs and services that are available to students with disabilities who attend/reside in Norwayne Local Schools. Students receive special education and related services in their school (NES, NMS, NHS) unless the students' needs cannot be successfully and appropriately met in their school setting. Some programs are available through cooperative placements with surrounding districts. All programs and services that are required to provide the student with a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) are provided at no cost to the family through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) specifically designed to meet the individuals child's unique needs. We pride ourselves on designing innovative and individualized placement opportunities for our students. We are committed to ensuring that students with disabilities are educated in an environment that allows them to succeed.
