Prior to any starting the actual project (before logging hours) you need to submit the following items:
- Plan Proposal
- Parent/Guardian Consent & Liability Release Form
- Mentor Confirmation
**Plan Proposal should be saved in your SEP classroom and must be typed. Plan proposals should be turned into the SEP advisors.
Project Action Plan - Getting Started
Students, please complete the following steps before starting your SEP project:
- Complete a typed plan proposal.
- Discuss your plan proposal with your parent/guardian.
- Find a mentor (an expert in the topic you chose).
- Submit your typed plan proposal.
- Wait until the plan proposal is approved. Plans will go through a revision process. Once the project is revised, SEP advisors will give you a signed copy of your approved plan proposal.
- Have a parent/guardian sign the plan proposal and submit paper copy to SEP advisors.
- Have your mentor complete and sign the mentor confirmation sheet.
- Parent/guardian must sign mentor confirmation sheet.
- Turn in signed mentor confirmation sheet to your SEP advisors.
- Turn in a signed parent/guardian consent & liability release form.
- Once your plan proposal is approved, consider the following items before the project begins.
- If you are hosting a fundraiser at school, contact the principal to schedule that date(s).
- If you are planning an event which requires the use of a school facility, contact the principal to fill out a facility use form.
- If your event will be held at school outside regular school hours, find one school district employee to supervise the event.
- If your event includes the general public and you plan on having a large number of participants, find another adult to supervise.
- You must include setup and cleanup as steps to complete. They are your responsibility.
- If your project requires you to involve the middle school and elementary school students in any way, contact the principal.
- If you plan on using any promotional items (posters, announcements, etc.) at the high school or any other building, get approval from the principal first.
