Remote Learning FAQs
What does remote learning look like?
Each building will be working with their students who have chosen to remain fully remote. Communication will be sent out by the buildings about this.
Some buildings may have to move students to different teachers. Some buildings/teachers may be recording their lessons while others have students login to view the lesson live. Again, the buildings and teachers will be communicating to the remote learning students what this will look like.
How does my child get started each day?
K-3 follow the directions below:
STEP 1- Login to Clever:
Open the “MyCleverPortal” App on their iPad.
Scan the Clever Badge. This is the QR code they received from their teacher. You should see a green checkmark when this has been completed successfully.
They will now be on their portal.
Your child should see a classroom for each of their teachers and the apps that are available to them in Clever.
STEP 2- Click on the Seesaw App
STEP 3- Click on your first scheduled class- see your student’s schedule for this information
STEP 4- Complete the Attendance Check-In form when assigned (this will need to be completed daily- including Wednesdays)
4th-12th grades follow the directions below:
STEP 1- Login to Clever
Your child should open the “MyCleverPortal” App on their iPad
Your child should login using their Google credentials.
If your child is prompted to create a six-digit PIN, they should use their lunch code.
Your child should see a classroom for each of their teachers. They can click on each icon to go to all of the resources each teacher has added to Clever that they may need to access
STEP 2- Click on the Canvas App
STEP 3- Click on your first scheduled class- see your student’s schedule for this information

What will Fridays look like?
Fridays are dedicated time for teachers to meet and work virtually with their remote learning students. There will be a schedule and set times for remote learning students to login and meet with their teacher(s). Teachers and buildings will be communicating these schedules.
Will students with IEPs and 504s receive services?
Yes, all students who are on an IEP or 504 plan will be contacted by an intervention specialist. More information regarding intervention services will be shared once plans are finalized.
How do I check my child's assignments and grades in Canvas?

Will there be a structured schedule for students to follow each day?
It will depend on each building's plans. Some students may not have a set time to login on Monday-Thursday, but they could have videos of lessons they need to watch and assignments to complete.
All remote learning students will have virtual meetings and a set schedule on Fridays.
Will teachers have live lessons with students?
Yes, teachers will have virtual meetings with remote learning students on Fridays each week. They could have more if the schedule allows. If this happens, this will be communicated to families.
How do I check my child's grades?
Login to ProgressBook to see the most accurate grades. Canvas may not have all of the assignments listed. To get to ProgressBook, click on the "A" icon on the www.northmontschools.com website.
How do I change the notification settings in Progress Book?
Will students receive a device to work from during remote learning?
Yes, all students will receive an iPad.
How do I turn on the read aloud feature on my iPad?

What is my child’s google login information?
The username is their email address and the password is the their initials followed by their ID number (i.e. Junie Smith would be js123456)
Every time I go back to Clever I have to login again. What should I do so I do not have to login again?
Use the “MyCleverPortal” app located on the iPad instead of clicking on the Clever app. If you have not logged in to Clever that day, you will be prompted to login with either your Google Login or your QR code. If you have already logged in, then it will take you right to the Clever portal.
My child can’t see a class that they are enrolled in with Canvas, what do they do?
Click on the “Courses” tab on the left side bar
Click on “All Courses”
Highlight the stars next to the courses you are enrolled in
Then click on the “Dashboard” tab on the left side to see your courses
My child can’t log into Clever and we see an error that says “Uh oh! We were not able to authenticate using Google email”. What do we do?

When my student logs into Clever, they get another student’s information. What do we do?
