Not sure what gear you need for the gym? Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right equipment for your training.
Shoes – Cross-training or weightlifting shoes can improve stability and performance. Avoid soft, cushioned running shoes for lifting.
Below we have suggested a number of popular shoe brands/models that we like and have used:
Reebok Nanos: https://www.reebok.com/collections/nano 🔗
Nike MetCons: https://www.nike.com/ 🔗
NOBULL: http://www.nobullproject.com 🔗
Rad: https://rad-global.com 🔗
TYR: https://www.tyr.com/footwear 🔗
Grips – Help protect your hands during high-volume bar work (pull-ups, toes-to-bar, muscle-ups).
SkyHill: Comfortable, grippy and they last forever. Coach Chris' Favorites:
Frog Grips: Also grippy. Coach Talyn's Favs:
Jump Rope – A personal rope ensures the right length and consistency for your double-unders.
RPM Jump Ropes: Fast and they last forever:
Wrist Wraps – These are just typically cotton and keep sweat from flying all over. You can wipe your forehead with them, etc.
Element 26: These are the ones that Tank likes.
Wrist Straps - Provide support for heavy lifts and overhead movements if you experience wrist discomfort.
Frog Grips

Lifting Belt – Useful for heavier lifts like squats and deadlifts to support core stability.
2Pood: Coaches Sybil, Chris, Talyn, as well as many members use these.
Lightweight, very cool designs, comfortable and easy to get in and out of:
Element 26: Tank likes the Element 26 Belt:
Grip Tape – Great for extra hand/thumb/finger protection, especially if you’re prone to rips.
2Pood again. Coach Daniel prefers this tape. Thicker and stickier than most tapes, and bigger rolls for the money.
Scary Sticky Goat Tape: It's definitely sticky. More rigid than most lifting tape. Like medical tape.

Weightlifting Shoes - "Lifters":
Ask Coaches Tank, Sybil, Chris, about how these will help you
TYR, Reebok, Adidas, Nike: all have some good options
These are a little expensive and harder to find and try on, but they REALLY help with stability and balance, which is an absolute must when it comes to Olympic Weightlifting. We actually have some in the back room that you can borrow or try on.
If you’re unsure where to start, ask a coach! We’re happy to help you find the right gear for your needs. 💪
