About the Program

The North Andover Middle School cross country program is a co-ed program, open to students in grades 6-8 who want to run competitively, who are looking to improve their conditioning for other sports, or who are looking for a social, after school activity.  We compete in roughly five interscholastic meets per year in nearby communities such as Newburyport, Reading, and Haverhill.  We also annually compete in the Jim Munn Invitational in Gloucester and the Massachusetts State Meet in early November.

Our season typically runs from the first week of school through early November.  Practices are normally on Monday and Wednesday from 2:35-4:15.  We run in almost any weather except for extreme heat or thunder and lightning.

After NAMS...

You can find many of our alumni competing in track and field and cross country at several local high schools including North Andover High School, Central Catholic, Brooks, Philips Academy, Pingree, Governor's Academy, Essex Tech, and St. John's Prep.  Additionally, many choose to participate in USATF,  AAU, and Junior Olympic competitions when school is out of session.

Some have gone on to run in college including at Harvard, Ithaca, Marist, Merrimack, Nichols, Southern Maine, and UMass!
