Visual Perception and Visual Tracking

Visual perceptual skills allow a child to make sense of what they see in the world. Visual percetual skills include visual tracking, visual discrimination, visual memory, visual closure, figure-ground perception, and form constancy. Some examples of functional skills that utilize visual perception skills include reading, puzzles, locating items within a desk, copying from the board, and drawing/writing.

11. Tracing Shadows

Laying on your belly is great when doing this activity either inside or outside. If not sitting at the table works too. Simply lay a paper in the sunlight and line up an object so its shadow casts across the paper. You may need to move your body and arm around when tracing so your shadow doesn't cover up your objects shadow. If the paper keeps moving try taping it down. Have Fun!!

12. Copy My Pattern and Don't Let Me trick You!

13. Letter or Number Bingo

I am attaching a blank Bingo sheet and two that I filled out with letters. I did both lower case and capital letters, although you are more than welcome to make your own. You can also use the blank Bingo sheet to make Bingo with numbers, answers to math facts, matching actual numbers to the written number, sight words, and etc. You can use flash cards, or make your own cards easily out of paper or index cards. It may be fun (with adult help) for your child to make the whole game with the cards and the Bingo sheets, making enough for the whole family to play. This is a game that can also be played with friends and family members over zoom, face time, or whatever source you are using to connect with friends and family. Friends and family members can be emailed a blank Bingo sheet that they can fill out with numbers or letters or set words, and then the child can even be the caller. Any small item can be used to mark the spot such as coins, legos, buttons, M&M's, and etc. Have fun!!
