Redefine what it means to assess students' learning and preview different ways to transform assessments into active learning experiences.

1) Social Discussions: Use the Discussion Board feature in Blackboard for students to asynchronously think deeply about a question prompt or use Collaborate for students to engage in a socratic seminar.

2) Explanatory Videos: Create an engaging iMovie or Clips video to explain taught concepts, or have students synthesize a concept in Flipgrid in 2 minutes or less.

3) Reflection: Have students self-assess using a rubric and reflect on learning goals, create a 1-minute retrospective on a particular topic using audio or video tools or on a blogging platform.

4) Simulations & Labs: Design labs and simulations through sites like PhET or CK-12 for students to try hands-on or virtual hands-on learning activities. Have students engage with real-world data and navigate authentic learning experiences.

5 & 6) Group & Creative Projects: Students, individually or in a group, can showcase their learning through synthesis of concepts, creativity, innovation, & presentation.

7) Peer Review: Introduce, Model, and Practice how to conduct peer reviews and then allow students to give feedback on their own while practicing mastered skills.

8) Documenting: Use the Journaling feature in Blackboard or have students journal in a Google Slides presentation. Students can create a Blog in a Google Site and share out to gain authentic feedback.
