My name is Petar Gery. I am the son of poets, and a dedicated storyteller. In my studies I’ve found that there are untold numbers of stories from perspectives we rarely see and from voices we never get to hear in modern media. I want to educate the world on events they barely remember, and on why they should. Historical and Alt-Historical Fiction, Dramas, and maybe even Documentaries are what I want to pursue eventually, but in the meantime I make narrations, music, and the occasional animation. They may not have the scale I hope to eventually achieve, but I’d like to think the lessons and the value are still here.
Here's a link to my page from last year's Media Arts Showcase. Check out some of my older stuff there, not to mention the rest of the 2020 Media Arts Department!
If you want to see more of my work, check out our rendition of a scene from Die Fledermaus, which I directed the music for, on Skye Downes' page.

Game Prototype:
Controls:
Movement: W,A,S,D
Port Gun (left): Q
Starboard Gun (right): E
Objective:
A group of alien ships is invading the Venaeon system. Hold them off for as long as you can!
Concept:
Originally envisioned as a reimagined story-centric take on Space Invaders, this game never got very far into production. All that exists for it is a few paragraphs on the potential story and the early build you see here. The story follows the crew of the Centaur-class Gunship Insolent Sucker-Punch as they make their way through an alien attack, a revolutionary uprising, and a huge enemy fleet with nothing more than an engine and their two trusty railguns.
Trivia:
The name of this game has been a huge issue for me. I changed the spelling of Venaeon five times before finally settling on this one. If you should ever see a future version, don't be surprised if it sports a different name!
Original song.
Trivia: The album cover here is actually not cover for the 2021 Album. It's actually a design I made for the cover of the 2020 MARS album, which was lucky enough to be chosen to represent the department.
Original song by Abby Hernandez with some instrumentals by me.
Consisting mostly of old profile pictures and unused album covers, here's some images I made during my time at NOCCA. Some of these will be very familiar to my fellow NOCCA students. Others have never been shown outside of my art folders. Still others are just funny images I put together in a few minutes. Regardless, every single one showcases a skill I either learned or developed in Media Arts.
As a note, it's only properly visible on the desktop version of the site. Sorry about that.
You know, the stuff you came here for?
This was a short machinima video I made in Simple Planes to test out how Green Screen would work. It also features my instrumental cover of "House of the Rising Sun," as well as actually including my acting. I want to do more with this, but as a first test, this was great. Today it's green-screening into the cockpit of a plane, but tomorrow, who knows?

GAME JAM PREVIEW VERSION
The following is a short game version of the opening scene of Forlorn Empires. Much like the first episode itself, it's far from finished, but it's something to hold you over until the real project releases!
You can play it here, or on itch.io. Either way, it only works on desktop. Sorry again, mobile users.
