This video is a project I took up when it was offered to NOCCA students by the Chartwell Center, which is a New Orleans nonprofit working to make a difference in the autism community. I would go to Chartwell instead of NOCCA and spend my time interacting and collaborating with students of the school's Program for Adults Transitioning Higher (PATH), which helps train adults with ASD in a vocational program by placing them in community volunteer jobs to participate in job skills training and work on independent living and self-help skills as well as additional job skills training on site at Chartwell. These students make up the band seen in the video.
Between October of 2020 and February of 2021, I worked with the school's PATH and Music Chair, Raymond Henderson, to organize all of production and pre-production. I then edited the footage together, and the final product was shared on the school's youtube, facebook, and newsletter.
The Riverside PATH Boys is a band made up of participants of the school's Program for Adults Transitioning Higher (PATH), which helps train adults with ASD in a vocational program by placing them in community volunteer jobs to participate in job skills training and work on independent living and self-help skills as well as additional job skills training on site at Chartwell. The video is a showcase of their talent, hard work, and creativity, and shines a spotlight on the school's commitment to the arts integration.
