Equity

Equity in schools means being fair and inclusive for all students. It encompasses resources, academic support, and outcomes. Equity in schools requires putting structures in place to ensure that every child has an equal chance for success.  This requires awareness of the specific challenges and obstacles faced by students and then providing them with additional support to help them overcome those barriers. Equity in schools provides each student with the support, programming, and opportunity to meet goals and be successful. 

It is important that all stakeholders collaborate to remove systemic barriers that prevent success for newcomers. This can be achieved by increasing awareness of these barriers, overcoming barriers both inside and outside the classroom and collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure equity in schools.
