Welcome, June!

Can you believe our very special year is coming to an end? What an incredible adventure it has been! Together, we built meaningful friendships and created a loving little family in our classroom. We shared so many laughs, learned so much, and made countless special memories along the way.

There will be lots of celebrating this month! We will learn about World Oceans Day, prepare for our Kindergarten Celebration, experience our very first Sports Day, and participate in fun theme days as we count down to SUMMER VACATION! Most importantly, we will celebrate our very first year of school at our Kindergarten Carnival with bouncy castles, face painting, balloon twisting, and so many other exciting activities. We can’t wait!

Our special colour for this month is BLUE. Let’s hope for lots of beautiful blue skies so we can continue to play and learn outside together.

Although our alphabet adventures have officially come to an end, we will continue reviewing letters and sounds through writing activities and word building. Please continue sounding out words when writing at home, and remember to read together daily.

In Math, we will continue exploring measurement, geometry, patterns, and problem solving using numbers to 10.

In Science, we will continue learning about life cycles and take a closer look at plants.

Families, thank you so much for the interest you have shown in your child’s learning throughout the year. Thank you as well for the kindness, encouragement, and continued support you have given to both me and our classroom. It has truly meant so much and has not gone unnoticed.

It is with very mixed emotions that I share that after 15 wonderful years at Coley’s Point Primary/Bay Roberts Primary, I will be moving on at the end of this school year. My family and I will be relocating to the Paradise area this summer, and I have accepted a position at Octagon Pond Elementary for September.

To my little students: I am so very proud of each and every one of you, and I hope you always remember just how very special you are. I have learned so much from you this year, and I will never forget you. Even though I won’t be at BRP next year, I know you will have an amazing time in Grade One. I will miss seeing you in the halls and hearing all about your new adventures!

Have a safe and happy summer with your family.

As always, please feel free to email me throughout the month of June with any questions or concerns at cherylloder@nlschools.ca

Thank you again for everything. It truly means the world to me.
