As deaf people leave high school and prepare for college or careers, the National Deaf Center wants them to succeed.
Supported decision making is about helping people, regardless of age or ability, make their own decisions by using a variety of integrated supports. Help students understand issues/choices, ask questions, receive explanations in a way that works for them, communicate their own decisions to others, or build their own decision-making skills.
The Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction (SDLMI) is used by teachers to enable students to:
Set goals
Make choices and decisions
Develop plans to reach goals
Track progress toward goals
The Transition Bell Ringers are based upon key concept taught within the Me! Lessons and designed to be short journaling activities. These can be completed independently during the first few minutes of class once a week throughout the school year.
