Study of Star Planet Magnetic Interactions
In this internship, under the guidance of Dr Antonino Lanza, I worked on energy loss due to the magnetic interaction between a star and its planet. We also investigated the possibility of any resonances and librations.
In this internship, under the guidance of Dr Antonino Lanza, I worked on energy loss due to the magnetic interaction between a star and its planet. We also investigated the possibility of any resonances and librations.
During this internship, I had the opportunity to study tidal and magnetic effects in star-planet systems. I learnt about different mechanisms of energy loss and angular momentum loss in stars and such systems, like tidal heating, migration, librations, orbital resonances etc. I also studied the stellar structure and evolution, the origin of magnetism and the dynamo mechanisms.
