Preparing your digital materials for your transition out of the district is much like the preparation needed for a move. You'll want to spend time intentionally purging, packing, and moving content before your final contract day.

Offboarding FAQs and Key Understandings

When do I lose access to my district credentials?

After their last contract day, staff lose access the morning of the next business day. Resignations mid-year take effect on your last work day. This includes access to email, Google Drive, and district resources. Be sure to take action prior to your last contract day; call NISD Helpdesk at (817) 698-1000 if assistance is needed.

What happens to my Google Drive after I leave NISD?

Contents will not be deleted, but staff accounts will become inactive. This means that the staff member who is leaving can no longer access the content, but the files remain in tact. However, this is not a long term solution as future district storage decisions may cause loss of access and eventual deletion of files.

What do I do with important data in my Drive?

You must be cautious of which documents you are keeping for yourself and which you are transferring due to laws that protect student data and policies that protect proprietary information (detailed here in the Staff Responsible Use Policy), as you will be liable for any violations of these laws or policies. These are the same requirements that explain why a district employee cannot simply transfer ownership to someone outside of the district, including their own personal Gmail account. That said, you can share and make copies of documents from your NISD account that you wish to keep that do not fall under a protected category.

If important data needs to be shared with another NISD staff member, you can transfer ownership of the file(s) and/or print and give a hard copy to that person. Additional information can be found here.
