Moon Balls, Part 1

Join us to engage in exploring Earth and Space...AT NIGHT! We will uncover the mysteries of objects in the night sky, moon phases and a night hike to explore other night phenomenon at the OLC. This session will prepare teachers to lead classroom discussions and models of the recognizable patterns in our natural world.
Moon Balls, Part 2

Join us to engage in part two of nighttime phenomena! We will discuss how to set students up for success when creating models of moon phases and eclipses. Then let's go on another night hike to further investigate our world after dark.

Aquatic WILD
June 8, 2024, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Aquatic WILD focuses on connecting students to aquatic habitats and wildlife. The 48 activities are easy to use, work for indoors/ outdoors and are TEKS aligned for Kinder up to 12th. Project WILD resources are an approved supplemental curriculum for NISD.
Growing Up WILD

As our planet grows more crowded every day, natural and wild places are rapidly diminishing . . . and so is wildlife. Project WILD explores how people can understand wildlife and habitat and make decisions that use natural resources wisely. The 122 activities are easy to use, work for indoors/ outdoors and TEKS aligned for Kinder up to 12th. Project WILD resources are an approved supplemental curriculum for NISD.
Growing Up WILD

Growing Up WILD is an early childhood supplemental curriculum that builds on children's sense of wonder about nature. Designed for integrated nature concept with science, math, reading, writing, movement, music and snack time! Comes with the curriculum book.
Do You Know INIWIRMO?

Join us to discover this critical thinking routine that stimulates the curiosity of learners! I Notice, I Wonder and It Reminds Me of....empowers students to use scientific practices, academic vocabulary and reasoning through student to student discourse. This routine is a way of thinking, and can be used in all contents through verbal or student created artifacts.
Questioning Strategies

We will discuss questions types, and analyze the impact of questions on student thinking and behavior, and how to use this information to adjust our teaching. We will also explore different teacher roles, and how this encourages or discourages curiosity.
