If your child has a medical note that prevents them from playing at recess, please make sure that you also inform P.E. and music teachers. Students move a lot in both of these classes and teachers need to know of any limitations.
Students may bring a dry, quick, and healthy snack. Good suggestions are apple slices, carrot sticks, grapes, goldfish, pretzels and granola bars. Please do not send chips, cookies, candy, anything that needs to be peeled, and anything that needs a utensil to eat for your child to have as a snack.
Students may bring a filled water bottle with only clear (unflavored) water. Do not add flavor packets to the water in case of spills. Students may not bring cups with straws. Only water bottles that can securely close will be allowed.

PARENTS, Please watch and follow staff directions in the morning drop off. We need you to pull all the way forward. Please do not stop at the kindergarten doors as you back up traffic. We need to keep everything flowing. We have staff on hand to assist students getting to class.

Please remember to follow our attendance guidelines and keep your child home when they are sick. While we value your child’s learning time in the classroom, help prevent the spread of illness and ensure the health of other students by making sure your child is fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please also talk to your child about healthy habits like frequent hand washing and covering your mouth when coughing.

Students should practice multiplication facts of ten. The optional test review is due on September 2nd. Students are encouraged to read every night and review addition and subtraction facts for automaticity.
This week, students will be learning about plot - the sequence of important events in a book including the conflict and resolution.
Ask your child about the plot of their favorite movie.
This week, students will complete a spelling inventory to see what areas of phonics they have mastered. Then, they will continue writing personal narratives, focusing on writing strong leads, a clear sequential order, and a conclusion.
Ask your child what personal experiences they have had that could be used to write a personal narrative.
Skills Block:
This week, students will explore, identify, and sound out words with multiple syllables. Additionally, we will review proper nouns and capitalization.
Ask your child how many syllables are in the word "elementary" and where each break in the word is.
This week, students will round to the nearest ten and hundred. We will also review strategies to find the sum when adding two and three-digit numbers. Students will be tested over module 1 on Tuesday, September 2nd. The optional test review is due on September 2nd. Students will be assessed on their knowledge and fluency of the tens multiplication facts on September 5th.
Ask your child to explain how they determine when to round up or round down.
This week, we will continue our topic on Matter by starting experience 2. Our focus will be to describe and classify matter as solids, liquids, and gases. We will also discuss how heating and cooling can change the state of matter.
