If your child has a medical note that prevents them from playing at recess, please make sure that you also inform P.E. and music teachers. Students move a lot in both of these classes and teachers need to know of any limitations.
Students may bring a dry, quick, and healthy snack. Good suggestions are apple slices, carrot sticks, grapes, goldfish, pretzels and granola bars. Please do not send chips, cookies, candy, anything that needs to be peeled, and anything that needs a utensil to eat for your child to have as a snack.
Students may bring a filled water bottle with only clear (unflavored) water. Do not add flavor packets to the water in case of spills. Students may not bring cups with straws. Only water bottles that can securely close will be allowed.

PARENTS, Please watch and follow staff directions in the morning drop off. We need you to pull all the way forward. Please do not stop at the kindergarten doors as you back up traffic. We need to keep everything flowing. We have staff on hand to assist students getting to class.

Please remember to follow our attendance guidelines and keep your child home when they are sick. While we value your child’s learning time in the classroom, help prevent the spread of illness and ensure the health of other students by making sure your child is fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please also talk to your child about healthy habits like frequent hand washing and covering your mouth when coughing.

Math homework is due by Friday, September 19th. Students are encouraged to read every night and review multiplication, addition, and subtraction facts for automaticity.
This week, students will be wrapping up our fiction unit, finishing the Wild Robot, and watching the movie!
Ask your child what their favorite part of the Wild Robot book was.
This week, students will publish their personal narratives and receive a summative grade on their final papers.
Ask your child what personal experiences they have had that could be used to write a personal narrative.
Skills Block:
This week, students will continue multisyllable words and identify if the syllable is open or closed. Additionally, we will continue our study of nouns and if they are singular or plural.
Ask your child how many syllables are in the words "book fair" and "holiday", and ask them if the syllable(s) is open or closed.
This week, students will find the difference when subtracting two and three-digit numbers. Students will also classify and sort three-dimensional figures, including cones, cylinders, spheres, triangular and rectangular prisms, and cubes based on attributes. Students will be assessed on Module two on Friday, September 19. Students are encouraged to complete the test review which is due by Friday, September 19.
Ask your child to explain the difference between a pyramid and a prism.
This week, we will wrap up our topic on Matter by finishing up Experience 3 about combining materials. We will review what we have learned in Topic 1 on Tuesday by completing the study guide in class and then students will bring it home that day for additional review. We will also review further on Wednesday. Our summative test over Matter is on Thursday, September 18th. You can use the articles linked below to review as well.
