To effectively manage and support all studies accepted onto the NIHR Clinical Research Portfolio, each Clinical Specialty is also part of a "Division".
The Divisions and Clinical Specialties are grouped differently because they serve different purposes. Specialty Clusters are formed around the relevant academic institution's expertise. Divisions are formed around portfolio size (number and complexity of studies).
There are six Divisions, supported nationally and locally by the CRNCC and LCRNs. Together they enable the delivery of research to meet researchers' expectations around time, target (numbers of participants), cost and quality to ensure the whole study delivers to and beyond their expectations.
In the CRNCC, the Divisional Research Delivery function is responsible for the national operational oversight and performance of the NIHR Clinical Research Portfolio. This function is part of the Research Delivery Directorate.
In the LCRNs, Research Delivery Managers (RDMs), Industry Operations Managers (IOMs) and other members of the LCRN teams support the studies in each division.
