How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

• most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

• infographics and image links may not have captions.  We include alt text where applicable

• older videos do not have captions

• external resources linked to this site may not be accessible

• there is a limit to how far you can magnify the poster images on the 'Waiting Room Slides and Posters'

• Some text links may appear with underlined text. This is a feature of Google Sites and there is no way to include a hyperlink without the text being underlined

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). CRN West Midlands is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to [insert one of the following: ‘the non-compliances’, ‘the exemptions’ or ‘the non-compliances and exemptions’] listed below.

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-accessible documents, images or links.  

• Our site favours the HTML format for documents.  PDFs are not able to comply with the requirements of the web accessibility standard, and we do not generally upload new PDFs. Where we do create new PDFs, we use the PDF/UA standard which is more accessible

• infographics and some image links may not have captions. We have attempted to include alt text, where applicable

• some of our older videos may not have captions

• Links that are broken or have non-accessible formatting.  We actively monitor the site for broken links and fix them as soon as they are identified

• YouTube videos on the site currently do not have a title, the CMS provider for the NIHR site is looking into this issue and working to address this by January 2022. 

• Some non-decorative images on our site do not have alt text.  The CMS provider is aware of this issue and is working to address this by January 2022.

Disproportionate burden:

We have assessed the time, cost and resources involved in fixing the aforementioned accessibility issues with this site. We believe doing so would be a Disproportionate Burden within the The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (Regulation 7). This position may change in the future if circumstances change and we will make another assessment at such a time.
