Metabolic Phenotyping
How are we supporting this Area of Innovation?
A close working relationship has been developed with the national MRC-NIHR National Phenome Centre and Imperial College International Phenome Centre, which are at the forefront of phenomic research methodologies and part of the recently formed International Phenome Centre Network, a research consortium which will contribute to global atlases of human disease and population health through research harmonisation. We have delivered:
A workshop to scope learning needs around phenomics. The outputs have proceeded to shape e-learning modules, which aims to educate researchers on the use of latest technologies.
An online platform which will provide reference databases of metabonomic data has been developed. Researchers will be able to upload their research data to compare with the reference data.
We continue to work with the National Phenome Centre in the production of educational tools to help researchers working in this area, including video tutorials for the new online platform and also updating and improving the Metabonomics online case as the technology matures.
A Metabonomics online course was launched in 2017 and is available on NIHR Learn. The course covers the basics that are important for conducting metabolic profiling studies. It is designed to provide a deeper understanding of utilising metabolic phenotyping techniques in research studies
