Philosophy

A research collaborative is a group of individuals who work together to produce research.

The CORNET philosophy:

1) Foster an inclusive approach to research, enabling all trainees to participate and collaborate

2) Promote inter-unit co-operation towards research within the region

3) Generate research that influences clinical practice and benefits patients

4) Inspire wider involvement and understanding in local research by making the research process transparent

Authorship in projects involving multiple contributors is a possible area of conflict. All publications will therefore be produced under the guise of a project team.

It is anticipated that key contributors would be counted as part of the standard authorship but that all contributors would be recognised in the final manuscript.

This would mean all contributors would gain a citable reference which can be verified by PubMed. For further information please refer to the example on the London Surgical Research Group Website(http://www.lsrg.co.uk/about-us/how-it-works).
