Want to learn MORE ? HERE are some cat facts!
Behavior facts:
- Cats can jump up to six times their length.
- Cats use their long tails to balance themselves when they’re jumping or walking along narrow ledges.
- Cats use their whiskers to “feel” the world around them in an effort to determine which small spaces they can fit into. A cat’s whiskers are generally about the same width as its body. (This is why you should never, EVER cut their whiskers.)
Medical facts:
- Each cat’s nose print is unique, much like human fingerprints
- Though many love milk, most cats are actually lactose intolerant.
- Cat purrs are similar to vibrations at a specific level that relax and ease muscles. If you don't have a cat, you can also make your phone vibrate to make similar results.
- 9 out of 10 calico cats are female.
Cat owner facts:
- if your cat lets you hold them upside down, they trust you (if they purr, it is even better!)
- If your cat comes to you naturally (not for food), even if you don’t call them, they love you.
- Unlike dogs, if a cat rolls on their back and exposes their belly, it does not necessarily mean they want belly rubs, especially not the way you would give a dog a belly rub. Some enjoy soft pets on their stomach.
Relations to humans facts:
- When a cat is rubbing himself against you, it's because they are "claiming you" by putting their scent on you. This can also be because they are saying hello.
- If a cat slowly blinks at you, you should do the same back to your cat! That's because they do it to show appreciation and love to you; it's like kisses.
- Cats developed the “meow” just for humans! They don't talk with other cats with meows, only to people.
