NHUSD has multiple strategies to support student social-emotional health.

  • At the TK and K level, our teachers use Kimochis to create a common language for feelings and support the development of empathy.

  • From TK-12, we use a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to address behavioral needs in classroom and school settings, and restorative practices.

  • Our Family Service Assistants and Union City Family Center collaborative partners can help families in crisis receive needed supports, including access to mental health services, and urgent living needs, to avoid crisis.
