Week 1

Overview:  

As a class, we will review the course syllabus, as well as the student handbook. The students will participate in Concentric Circles activity.  

Standards: 

ECC-5.2 Demonstrate personal skills (for example, attendance, punctuality, responsibility, integrity, getting along with others) that are needed to succeed in school, life and career.

Week 2-7

Overview: 

We will begin typing instruction. Students will take a typing assessment to determine their level of skill. They will make SMART goals to work toward for the remainder of the grading period. Students will have time each day to work towards their typing goal. 

Standards:  

ECC--‐5.2 Demonstrate personal skills (for example, attendance, punctuality, responsibility, integrity, getting along with others) that are needed to succeed in school, life and career.

ECC- 1.3 Explore personal priorities and goals for life and career.

Week 8

Overview: 

Students will take a personality survey. They will review and interpret their results to reflect future potential opportunities based on their own results. 

Standards: 

ECC-4.4 Interpret results of self assessment inventory to create an initial education and career plan.

ECC- 4.0 Students will create a flexible plan for succeeding in secondary education, college, career and life.

ECC-5.0 Students will demonstrate personal skills needed for success in school, life and career.

Week 9

Overview: 

Students will explore the Indiana Career Explorer website. 

Standards:

ECC-2.2 Locate, understand and use career information and resources.

ECC 4.1 Identify skills needed for career choices and match to personal abilities and interests.
