Weekly Wonderings

This week was a special one for our Great Debaters, they became officially official!

We held our induction ceremony for the NHI at Austin team, starting and reigniting new and old traditions. As mentioned by our student speaker and JFL Isa Matamoros, the Austin Great Debate team looked a lot different this time last year, only having about 10 students compete. This year, we have THREE TIMES that amount. We are so proud of each and every one of our students, and could not be more excited that they're joining us this year.

We even had vice president K. Nicole Nieto and founders Ernesto Nieto & Gloria De Leon joining us, giving these Great Debaters some words of inspiration as they start this incredible journey towards winning the Silver Cup at the Great Debate!

Congratulations everyone! Go 512!

Fundamental of the Week

NHI has 25 core fundamentals that are core to our success. These fundamentals define how we relate to ourselves, each other, and our community.

This week’s fundamentals are

#8: Appreciate & Acknowledge and #9: Proceed Only On Faith (POOF).

Regularly extend meaningful acknowledgment and appreciation in all directions throughout NHI, and celebrate progress as much as victory while continuing to seek out the best within yourself and others!

You have the power to imagine possibilities and only YOU can allow yourself to dream. Have faith in yourself and your community. Do good work, don’t cut corners, have faith in others, and they will have faith in you.
