WHAT IS THE INDICATIVE PSLE SCORE RANGE OF THE SCHOOL?
Each PSLE subject will be scored using 8 ALs. Students who perform similarly will be placed in the same AL for each subject. PSLE Score will be the sum of the four subject scores.
Our indicative PSLE score range is 6(Merit) to 11(Distinction). The HCL grades of the first and last student admitted into the school are reflected in parenthesis.
WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?
Students report at 07:30 on Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri, and 08:30 on Thursdays.

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL POPULATION?
There are 9 classes in Lower Secondary and 10 classes in Upper Secondary. Each cohort has about 340 students.
HOW IS AN SAP SCHOOL DIFFERENT?
Apart from nurturing students to be effectively bilingual in both English Language and Chinese Language, SAP schools have the additional objective of inculcating in students traditional Chinese values through school programmes that immerse them in Chinese language, culture and values.

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR OFFERING HCL IN SECONDARY 1?
(i) PSLE score of 8 or better
OR
(ii) PSLE score of 9 to 14 inclusive; and attain
*AL1 / AL2 in CL or
*Distinction / Merit in HCL
MUST MY CHILD TAKE HIGHER CHINESE?
No, your child may opt to do Express Chinese. However, as an SAP school, your child is strongly encouraged to pursue Higher Chinese if he/she is assessed to have high ability and interest, and is able to cope with the subject. You are strongly encouraged to discuss your language option with our HOD or Subject Head of Mother Tongue Department.
CAN MY CHILD APPLY TO JOIN THE SCHOOL EVEN IF HE/SHE DID NOT TAKE HCL IN HIS/HER PRIMARY SCHOOL?
Yes.
WHAT DISTINCTIVE PROGRAMMES DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE TO DEEPEN MASTERY IN THE CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAMME?
As part of the Nan Hua Curriculum, all students will gain a deeper appreciation of Chinese Language and Chinese Culture through the SAP Flagship Programme. Students who demonstrate the ability and interest could be offered the Chinese Language Elective Programme to deepen their mastery of the language.
WHAT IS THE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME LIKE?
The school provides opportunities for students to take up leadership positions in class, in CCAs and also as members of the Student Council. Leadership camps are also conducted. In addition, students who perform well are invited to participate in the sKy (ValueS, Knowledge & personalitY) programme. Successful candidates will have mentors to guide them and they participate in development programmes to hone skills and talents.
WHAT IS THE VALUES IN ACTION (VIA) PROGRAMME?
The programme provides opportunities for students to serve the community and provide them with the knowledge and opportunities to organise community projects.

WHAT CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCA) ARE OFFERED BY THE SCHOOL?

WILL STUDENTS BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN CCAs NOT OFFERED BY THE SCHOOL, AND WILL THEIR PARTICIPATION BE COUNTED IN THEIR OFFICIAL CCA RECORD?
Yes. However, all students are expected to participate in one of our 26 CCA Groups. Hence, if a student would like to take part in an external CCA, he/she may do so as a 2nd CCA, whilst still take part in a main CCA within school. His/her achievements in the external CCA is recognised in the official CCA records.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE IN THE SCHOOL?
Some of the facilities include the Bicultural Hub, the Heritage Gallery, the Sky Garden, the Auditorium, the Eco-Garden, computer laboratories, the library, the gymnasium, and the aesthetics block where the performing arts groups have their own rooms. In addition, we have the Counselling Room next to the canteen and an indoor sports hall. There are also lockers outside every classroom for students’ use.
ARE THE CLASSROOMS AIR-CONDITIONED?
Yes they are. However, air-conditioners are only turned on when necessary.
MUST STUDENTS HAVE A CERTAIN HAIRSTYLE?
Boys must keep their hair short. All girls with shoulder length hair or even longer hair must plait their hair.
DOES MY CHILD NEED MOBILE LEARNING DEVICES (E.G HANDPHONES, TABLETS AND LAPTOPS) IN SCHOOL?
The students will be getting their own personal learning device in 2021 and that will be sufficient for teaching and learning purposes.
WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL FEES AND MISCELLANEOUS FEES?
The rates of school and miscellaneous fees payable are reviewed by the Ministry of Education and individual schools from time to time.
