STUDENT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (SLD)
学生领袖培训计划
"Every student can be a leader.
Every student should be developed as a leader."
The school firmly believes that all Nanhuarians have the potential to be leaders in their own right. With intentional student leadership development, all Nanhuarians are equipped with the requisite dispositions and competencies for effective leadership.
Guided by the vision to develop values-centric leaders, the Student Leadership Development Programme has adopted the essence of both Innovation Leadership and Servant Leadership models in the trainings. All Nanhuarians are equipped with the skills and mindset to use innovative platforms to serve the community and address its needs.
All Secondary 1 students undergo Leadership Training Programme, guided by The Leadership Challenge Model by Kouzes and Posner. They are also encouraged to explore their interest and discover their leadership potential through programmes such as Junior Leaders Training Programme, sKy Leaders Programme, etc.
Our Secondary 2 students embark on the Service Learning trainings, in order to equip them with personal mastery and anchored with a strong sense of social responsibility. All students work together during Project SERVE (SustainablE and Resourceful Volunteering Effort), whereby they are given platforms to better address and solve the needs of the community within and beyond school.
An adventure camp is organised for Secondary 3 students at the start of the year as part of this programme. Students are also engaged in student-initiated Values-In-Action (VIA) activities, where students have to propose, plan, organise and execute the VIA activities as a class. These programmes serve as platforms for them to attain the National Youth Achievement Award (Silver), which serves as the yardstick of one’s self-leadership journey.
STUDENT COUNCIL
The Nan Hua Student Council, which comprises a group of student leaders dedicated to their motto, “Service with Pride”, are guided by the eight school values. Student Councillors strive to live out the 5Cs - Creative, Compassionate, Committed, Competent and Confident. The Council is the voice of the student body and it plays an integral role in organising major school events to develop their leadership competencies.
