Indiana early college Credits

Thousands of Hoosier students have already completed a year’s worth of college while in high school thanks to the Indiana College Core. In order to continue building awareness, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Indiana Department of Education released a free digital guide and toolkit designed to equip educators, especially school counselors, with the information and tools needed to help students make knowledgeable decisions about earning the Indiana College Core.

There’s also a short informational video about the Indiana College Core. Check out the guide and toolkit on LearnMoreIndiana.com!

Press Release

Free Courses through IVY Tech for students finishing their Indiana College Core the Summer of 2021 and 2022. Look for opportunities and announcements each year.

Ivy Tech Dual Enrollment Link

Provided students choose courses carefully, students can earn the Indiana College Core and it will transfer as a block to any public college or university, for example BSU, IU, thereby meeting the general education requirements. Students should focus on Core Transfer Library (CTL) courses and/or courses that are on the dual credit liberal arts priority list. As long as students take general education courses that equate to the 6 competency areas (example, Scientific Ways of Knowing) and earn 30 hours of credit they can transfer as a college sophomore.

Reminder to students, depending on the selected major chosen, you may need to take additional courses to satisfy the requirements, but will not repeat courses you've already taken. Each college and university identifies Indiana College Core courses, which can be found on the institutional websites and TransferIN.net.

If someone fails to register (18+ year old males) in a timely matter they will lose the right to participate in many Federal benefits. Some of these Benefits include:

• Billions of dollars in federal student aid.

• Job training under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

• Over 2.1 million federal civilian jobs and half a million Postal Service

  jobs.

• A citizenship process without delay.

We don’t want our young men to find out they don’t qualify for these benefits just when they need them the most.

U.S. federal law requires all men to register with the Selective Service System within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Not only is registration important for protecting access to federal benefits, it is essential to our nation's security in the event of a national crisis.

Note that registration with the Selective Service does not mean enlisting in the armed forces.

Registration is quick and easy to do with the options below:

1. Online registration: https://www.sss.gov/register

2. Downloadable mail-in form: https://www.sss.gov/forms/

3. In-person at any U.S. Post Office
