Dear Tiger Family,
We are off to a fantastic start with many exciting initiatives underway. Our One School, One Book program has been a big hit as students and families enjoy reading Charlie Bumpers vs. Teacher of the Year together. With support from 30 local businesses, this initiative is fostering a love of reading schoolwide. We’re also excited to offer a new BETA Club for our upper-grade students, and our Student Council is fully underway, giving students leadership opportunities.
We’re proud of the positive choices our students are making! Over 50 students have received PAWSitive office referrals this year, and we continue to emphasize strong academics, good attendance, and making great choices. Congratulations to Team Toucan for winning our first house challenge—there’s plenty more fun to come!
We are also thankful that free breakfast and lunch continue to support our students' needs. We highly encourage all students to take advantage of this program. We look forward to seeing you at parent-teacher conferences on October 9th!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Witt Mr. Crowder

Charlie Bumpers vs The Teacher of the Year
We are so grateful to all the families and friends who attended our One School, One Book kickoff event! It was wonderful to have everyone here, showing our students just how important reading is. Be sure to check our Facebook page and the district website for guest readers who will be sharing a chapter each night.
We’re thrilled to have over 30 local businesses participating this year. Look for special signs in business windows, where students can answer a question from the book and receive a paw print. Students bring the pawprints to school for a special prize. We’re also excited to welcome Pizza Hut and Sam's Pizza as our newest partners!
Don’t forget to send in pictures of your child reading their book! These photos will be featured in our morning announcements. We have even more fun activities and games planned as we journey through the story together
Thank you to our amazing community partners!
Leader of the Month
The Leader in Me program, inspired by Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, is designed to help elementary school students build lifelong leadership skills. It empowers students by integrating the seven habits into daily school routines, teaching them to be proactive, set goals, prioritize tasks, collaborate with others, and take responsibility for their actions. The program fosters a culture where every child is seen as a leader, encouraging personal growth, self-confidence, and effective decision-making. By instilling these leadership principles early, students develop skills that will positively impact their academic and personal lives, helping them navigate future challenges with resilience and purpose.
Each month, teachers recognize one student per class that exemplifies these leadership skills. These students participated in a special breakfast with the principals and will be recognized at the upcoming board of education meeting.
Parent-teacher conferences will be held on October 9th from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm. To schedule an appointment, please call the main office at (330) 872-0965 ext. 1048. All conferences must be scheduled by October 8th. It's important for parents to attend these conferences to support their child's academic success. During the conference, parents will also have the chance to win a $50.00 gift card from Big D's by completing a survey. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with teachers and help your child thrive!

ABC Club Basket Raffle
Our amazing ABC Club is excited to hold their annual basket raffle during parent-teacher conference night on October 9th to raise funds for student activities. We are asking for donations to help make this raffle a success. All raffle items are due by October 7th.
They are also in need of volunteers to help assemble the raffle baskets. If you’re available, please join them on October 7th at 4:30 PM in the school cafeteria to put the baskets together. Your support makes a huge difference! See details on basket donations and how you can contribute
Trunk or Treat
We are excited to announce our Trunk or Treat event on October 24th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, sponsored by our Leader In Me team and led by Miss Blank. This event is open to all children in the Newton Falls community, and it’s sure to be a fun evening for everyone!
We currently have 21 participants signed up but are looking for more community members to join in. If you'd like to participate, we would love to have you! Additionally, we are collecting candy donations to help make this event a sweet success. Thank you for your support
BETA Club
We are proud to announce that the Elementary/Middle school is offer a BETA club this year. Mrs. Sembach, 5th grade teacher, is the advisor for this club bringing many years of leadership and classroom experience. BETA is a national organization based on the four pillars of character, leadership, service, and achievement. Our newly formed Beta Club is composed of 35 eager 4th and 5th graders. After our initial meeting on September 26, our members are excited to get started on various service projects and learning experiences, with the hopes of showcasing some of their accomplishments at the State Convention in February. Our first project is going to be a gently used shoe drive. We will collect the shoes and they will be sent to underdeveloped countries where individuals will give the shoes a new life and sell them in their villages to provide for their families. Be on the lookout for information coming home in the next couple of weeks.

The Newton Falls Middle School Student Council, advised by Mrs. Thompson is excited to kick off several initiatives this year! We will be collecting candy for Trunk or Treat, as well as canned goods and non-perishables to support the local community. In addition, we will perform skits from Charlie Bumpers vs. Teacher of the Year to engage students in fun ways. To promote inclusivity and well-being, we are raising funds for a Buddy Bench and new playground equipment. We're also starting a Kindness Club, which will secretly leave notes or treats in the lockers of students who could use a little extra cheer on tough days.
Wit and Wisdom: New, high quality ELA program
We are excited about our new Wit & Wisdom K-5 English Language Arts (ELA) program that is taking place in our classes this year. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to foster a deep understanding of literature, critical thinking, and a love for reading. Wit & Wisdom goes beyond teaching the mechanics of reading and writing—it engages students with rich, meaningful texts that help them explore complex ideas and themes across subjects. Through this program, your child will develop strong reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills while connecting their learning to the world around them. We are confident that Wit & Wisdom will inspire a passion for learning and literacy in your child. "Pawsitive Office Referrals"
We are proud to recognize our students who exhibited our core values of being respectful, responsible, safe, and active learners during the week of September 23-27. These outstanding students received a "Pawsitive Office Referral" for demonstrating these qualities, and we commend their commitment to upholding our school's expectations. Their positive actions serve as great examples for their peers, and we are excited to celebrate their achievements! Keep up the excellent work
